Well he was 5th in minutes per goal among the top 25 BPL scorers last year, but he was also 25th in that group in total minutes played. Since Chelsea open up the season with West Ham, I won't be sad if he starts the season coming off an injury as usual.

Is he really hated by Liverpool fans? I'm not sure I've ever really felt that. He's not El Hadji Diouf!!!

I would like to see a player like Breel Embolo (who was just transferred), Andre Schurrle (who's up for grabs, apparently, but wants to go to Dortmund), or (fingers crossed he's as good in real life as he is in FIFA) Martin Braithwaite. It's not that we need another striker, but we need one in case Sturridge gets injured again, so there's less of a pressure to rush him back. We don't need a repeat of the "he's back, no wait, he's back again, no....wait" like we've been having for the past two years.

We also need another centerback. Matip is a good start and I really think he'll be a success. But with Toure gone (a mistake, in my opinion), Skrtel on his way out (best of luck in Turkey, you were great for us at times), Sakho prone to injuries, Lovren continuing to not be good enough, and Joe Gomez being 12 years old, we could use another solid centerback, even if we don't have Europe this season. We should be going for an FA Cup run and shooting at the title with so few distractions.

A lot of people say we need a new leftback, but I'm not convinced that Moreno is past the point of no return. I'm not saying we don't need another fullback, but I don't think we need to replace him, unless the idea is to push him up, alleviate him of his defensive responsibility, and turn him into an all-out midfielder/winger. We need some natural wingers (I mean, people who operate naturally on the wing, not Aaron Lennon type natural wingers who can't do anything but run and cross) and moving Moreno to that position could help that out, since he's a fast, marauding wide player that has a mind for attack, and can defend from the front while still having defensive cover behind him.

I would also like to see a player come in to solidify the midfield. I think Can's temper can lead it issues and while I have a high opinion of Lucas, it seems that he may not be able to do this day-in, day-out. I think Nampalys Mendy would have been great, but Leicester snapped him up to replace the likely outgoing Kante.
I'm pretty relaxed about striking options.Yeah, we can't count on Studge but Origi came on a long way in terms of development and Firmino looked good when he played as a 9. Ings is back, too, and we have no European football thous season.
I'd like to see some more pace come in since we don't know how Markovic will be and Moreno should be a very game-specific choice imo. Otherwise there's only Mané.

I'd like to see a left back who can defend. I became less convinced by Moreno as last season wore on and he proved less and less inclined to take his defensive positioning seriously. Against the right teams, he clearly gives us something, but he was easily our must exploitable defensive weak link (saying some given the guy playing between the posts). Maybe he is a winger but, when I think about it, I can't remember too many of his attacking runs that didn't fizzle out into a crap cross or optimistic lash.

I agree that we also need a cb urgently. Lovren looked good last season but how sure are we that we'll get that Lovren again. Kolo was great but he really looked like a man wringing out everything he had from those legs.

I haven't had any kind words to say about his playing ability, but hate is a strong word.

It is sad he has had so many injuries. He has so much ability in the air and is a great finisher. He holds the ball up very well as well.

    A proper old school striker.

The only jersey I own with a player's name on it is Andy Carroll.

Looks like Kante is off to Chelsea from Leicester for £30m

Don't understand that move to be honest, if he went to Real Madrid, Barcelona, PSG, Bayern etc I would understand, but why leave Leicester for Chelsea.

No European football and an erratic structure at Chelsea, and why not have the big challenge of Leicester in the champions league, and its not the money either, Leicester have offered a big contract for him to stay

Liverpool news. - Martin Skrtel has left for Fenerbahce for £5.5m - good deal for us, he was looking way past his best last season and cost us a few goals

Jordan Ibe has been sold to Bournemouth for £15m - a bit of shame we've let a young homegrown player go, but to get £15m for him is quite something (he wasn't that good!)

Apparently Liverpool have agreed terms with Fc Koln for the German Left back Jonas Hector, who played in the Euros.

Thank god if this is true, Moreno was turning into quite a liability, although he shows promise occasionally, it is very apparent that the Liverpool fans are turning on him after all his defensive errors

I don't get the move either, but since Leicester brought in Mendy, they were ready for it.
