Took the car in for a minor warranty issue today, and got this loaner:
Have to say, I'm not impressed (it's a Ghibli). My Panamera would eat it for lunch in every way.

The Ghibli, despite its good looks (it's a midsize, so it's not really in contention with your Panamera, more an E class/S6/5 series fighter), has a reputation for being a slapdash, unfinished effort that's bottom of the pack and indicative of a company trying to increase volume on style and brand equity alone. And it almost works. My brother wanted so desperately to buy one, until I sent him review after review that showed that the Ghibli was just not the real thing.

My mom met some young adult who has a Maserati. When she mentioned that her son has a Lotus, his was response was "pfft, that's just a toy" - which it is, but I can't stand that kind of arrogance. I'm not sure which Masertati he has, but it would be a small victory if it's this model.
My experience is that Land Rover and Audi don't do reliable. At least with the Land Rover it will get you home but the power seat may have decided to move all the way up, the heat is on full blast and the windows won't roll down. Supposedly Land Rover has gotten better.

Coil pack problems are quite the common problem with modern cars, especially since they got rid of a central single old skool coil that supplied all cylinders, more likely to be multiple coil packs supplying each plug or sometimes 2 plugs ..... more efficient, better more controlled spark, but you obviously have to multiply the chance of a problem (when compared to a single coil and dizzy)
Supposedly more reliable.............. but in reality they fail.... more likely in my view because they're usually sitting on top of the hot engine.... and usually freaking expensive too
You do realise they don't use points and a condensor now right (usually) ?............![]()
