Nope. I can lease the gti for less than I pay for my pcp purchase plan for this model which I'm sure I've mentioned before, and I would if I knew what was happening with jobs - company cars, whether I'm doing loads of miles in field sales etc or of I settle for a company diesel etc etc

Given how popular this model has been, the seller was a bit too laid back. He had no real incentive to really push and stay on top of things so communication was a bit lacking.
As far as service it should be good from what I've heard. Kia has their 7 year warranty which is good, but of course only if you follow their service recommendations and use their service centers, which apparently are quite pricey.
Yeah, that's part of the issue with volume sellers. They'll sell no matter what, so you're not really needed; someone else will come and take it off their hands if you don't. 7 year warranty is good. I guess they're not doing 10 so they don't step on Hyundai's toes.

That reminds me that I need to fix that setting, too! Luckily if you press the start button quick enough you don't have to hear it at all.

    It is an interesting interplay.

(Was that supposed to be a Pink Floyd reference or am I reading too much into it?)

I don't think I've had a problem with an ignition coil or lead since the late 1970s... It seems an odd fault for a modern car.

In contrast to Raza, I'm having a good experience with my recently acquired Mercedes. It's just so competent and effortless, and subjectively at least, it feels as though it could outlive me. The dealership is pretty good too - eager to please, but without smarm. Surprisingly, Mercedes' in-house insurance is significantly cheaper than the insurance I had for my old Vauxhall.

Foot-operated parking brakes are a bit of a nonsense though. They're an invitation to rely on 'park', which wouldn't be wise.

And yes, like others, I spent a lot of time with the manual in the first week or so - to the point of loading the pdf version to my phone.
