Middle Mountain Meads Black Mead. Apparently they do not even make this anymore. I haven't a clue how long it has been in my basement or how old it is, but Hey!, that's the great thing about mead. It doesn't go off in the same why wine does.

Long weekend here and stocked up on local products for it. This weekend I will drink no alcohol that was made more than 90 miles away.

Apple wine and rhubarb cider form Living Sky Winery, gin from Black Fox, and beer from 9 Mile and Nokomis breweries. If I run out I have all kinds of product from Lucky Bas***d and some from Last Mountain and Saskatoon Brewery is less than 100 yards from my house. I think I am ready.

The gin is really interesting. They were attempting another recipe (they have three or four distinctly different gins) and put way too many botanicals in. It was nearly undrinkable. Since there was nothing to lose they threw it in oak. In a good way it tastes like whiskey/gin.

It's National Bourbon Day in the US. My wife and I are celebrating it up here in Canada. I am currently working on a flight of high rye style while my wife is enjoying a flight of traditional bourbon.

Martini using Fords Gin. Its sold as premium in the US. I'd say it is right tasty. You fellows in the UK, is this stuff well regarded or not?

    Thanks!

The Peak Ales has been my favorite so far.

The British just know how to do a hoppy beer without going overboard better then the U.S. I mean I love American craft beer but when they decide to do something hoppy it is like getting slapped in the face with hops.

Never heard of it to be honest. Not that I'm much of a gin coisnisseur; I do drink a lot of martinis though.
