Geoff, you show off you, all of these in the last two pages look incredible.

As for the turkey conversation: Turkey is a dull, dry, flavorless bird. They were/are popular because of how easy they are to feed a large group (and gravy can hide a lot of shortcomings). If you want a good bird for holidays and don't need to feed 20+ folks, go duck or goose (I prefer goose). If you do have to feed 20+ folks, get one of each.

If you plan it out ahead of time (e.g. Thanksgiving, other holiday), you can make your own Confit. Very delicious and not nearly as daunting as it sounds. Anthony Bourdain has a killer recipe for it. I promise you will not be disappointed.

While it is summery out, it is usually too early to enjoy tonight's supper yet. This year with the indoor garden though, there is way more than enough basil for a good panzanella.

I have very strong feelings when it comes to turkey - none of which are positive. I will concede this though: the best turkey is one that is cooked and eaten. Those damn birds are miserable creatures.

Not the first al fresco meal of the year, but the first in our own back yard. Perfectly charred and extremely juicy jerk (50-70% char), fried plantain and rice and beans. Again. Jamaican alcoholic ginger beer.
