Had a couple of glasses of 19 Crimes 2015, an Australian blended red. Kind of a table wine, it's a Shiraz, Grenache, and something else blend. I like it, though. Easy drinking, sweet, but not too sweet.

I started the night by 'impressing' my new colleagues by downing the 5 shots of sambuca that no one wanted, then it went downhill from there.

There isn't a lot of alcohol in sambuca, though, so I'm sure you were fine.

Once in awhile you get shown the light in the strangest of places if you look at it right.

A lovely drop of local cider after a long walk.

Really? I would have guessed more like 25-30. The last time I had sambuca, I had like 6 or 7 shots and got really drunk, but it wasn't the shots that did me in. Well, not the sambuca shots, anyway.

I have found that the best way to enjoy sambuca is to mix it with toilet water and then flush twice. Seriously though: to each his own, but I'm just not a fan of anisette.

Changing gears, this is something I've been sipping on in small quantities and find it very intriguing. The flavours are delicate and layered nicely. I bought it on a whim because I like gin, but I'm not sure what you should do with it, ither than sip it neat as I have been. I couldn't see it standing up to a cocktail or martini, but it's very nice on its own.
