Something cheap as hell to last me the rest of the year. A manual Subaru, Saab or Volvo wagon if I can find one. The SI is '99 in blue but it needs some cosmetic work and a new clutch in the not to distance future (clutch release point is getting a little high). Tien coilover, DC Sports intake, header, strut brace, adjustable upper front a-arms. The timing belt, water pump and clutch master cylinder were done not long ago and about 5k miles on high performance summer tires. I'd be looking for around $4.5k for it on the normal market but I'd be willing to go down in price.

Driving into work today I saw one of the older Mazda 6 wagons. I forgot how much I liked those cars. I recall they offered them with a V6 and a stick - and I bet one from the early to mid 2000s would be in your price range.

Reading some more into this the legislation seems to be saying that emissions devices can not be removed from cars even if they are going to be used in racing which is still ridiculous. But it isn't a ban on converting street cars to race cars.

I am guessing their thinking is that tons of parts are sold for "off-road use only" that get put on street cars and defeat the emission control devices.
