I can however to a certain degree understand the move. Caulker knows the PL and was available right away. Very low risk, if he doesn't pan out, he just rides the bench
Yeah. It's not a bad move, honestly, especially as there was no loan fee. All he costs are wages.

Come now, there's more than one ex-Liverpool trash player you like? Newcastle is too good a club for the likes of Shelvey. Shelvey is terrible, with occasional flashes of brilliance. He's also a liability on the pitch with his temper. I remember watching him at Liverpool and thinking "No team with him on it will ever go anywhere."

I didn't say I liked him but we have zero depth in the squad and several starters are pretty poor so there is hard not to be an upgrade over some of the players. When your options outside of the starters are Gouffran, Obertan, Marveaux, Thauvin, anybody seems like an upgrade and it is not like Colback has been brilliant this year either.

I am more interested in seeing what Saivet can do.

Think you're being a bit harsh on Shelvey, Raza, he is still only 24 (in Feb). The temper has become better from what I've seen. Still need to cut down on the mistakes and losing possession in the wrong places. but same can be said for someone like Can.

i think having to sleep in a woolly hat as a child to fend off the alopechia has had a profound effect on his skills - the row he had with one of his own supporters at that game was provoked by a 'baldy' jibe no doubt

OK, I admit I had missed this latest incident... I was more talking about on the field and cutting down on cards a bit

Frankly, I'm not entirely sure I'm being harsh enough.

Didn't he receive a violent conduct last season for a hand in the eye of Emre Can?

I'm so nervous about today's match. I think the best we can hope for is a narrow loss. No strikers and a backup center backs.
