    I had a '91 MX-5 for 12 years. No power steering, wind-up windows, etc. I loved it.

I haven't driven the MX-5 yet, but all these reviews make me want to go and test drive one.

My favorite in this class, is the S2000. I wish Honda still made them.

I always preferred the Mazda. The S2000 had no torque, nothing happened below 6000 rpm, so it was kind of fatiguing. Also didn't feel as sturdy as the Mazda.

I agree. the MX5 was never as fast as the Honda. But it always seemed, to me, to be a better balanced car. Of course I also never spent any real time driving an S2000, and I know more than a few car guys who think they're just about perfect.

They intended to kill it earlier but, when Romano Artioli took over the company, they had a load of engines left so they released the S2 (in the picture) as a limited edition. From memory, I think there were about 800. I think the bhp was actually about 10 down on the original but the handling was much improved.

It's a little maligned given that the Elise which replaced it was so incredible but it was actually a great car when it came to covering ground. Cross country, it was unbelievably quick.

What's the verdict on the latest Elan? I've seen no reviews but it looks a bit of a beast...

I sat in the new exige at salonqp in November - felt raw. When you change gear you hear a metallic clunk all through the chassis - awesome. Name: uploadfromtaptalk1452338274687.jpg

Apparently the project was cancelled in 2013.
