I got to drive a GTR once. Same thing. The most fun I have had driving a car was a Triumph Spitfire with a tuned Ford V6 up front. The headers tried to set your feet on fire. There was zero weather protection, zero padding on the seat. The carb needed work cause it would stall at idle but holy crap it was fun.
That or a 600hp Civic. That thing tried to kill you most of the time.

I've had a few Elises and I've driven a 430 but only on a track (birthday present). The Ferarri was fun but not in a million years would I want one for the road. Even on the track, the dominant sensation was one of limitless, flat grip and it would take a much better driver than me to exploit the upper limits of what it can do.
The Elise is just a joy. Even the most basic, stock examples are pretty close to driving perfection. Extra power is nice but it's the delicacy and synaptic handling that are addictive.
A big heavy super car- with all the electronic driving aids needed to harness its power and keep it on the road- just can't deliver the poise, agility and fun of a proper, lightweight, well-sorted sportscar.
Love them.

For me, the main thing about having the supercharger in the Elise is that it means you don't need to be above 6000 rpm in every turn. The additional power at lower rpm means you have more choices.
