When I go beck to the UK and see an Elise on the road, a little part of me cries. But, living in Italy, I just don't think I could relax enough to really enjoy one. The ability to adjust your line through the throttle is less important than the ability to continually imagine the most stupid thing the other guy is about to do.

I have driven Audi's (VW) since 2000. Mostly problem free, but the occasional issue that pops up does cost more money than an American or Japanese car. For my last two, I seemed to have always had trouble with tie rods breaking, not sure why. My current one is still under warranty so we'll see.


Same with the new Audis. I thought I was driving a marshmallow (and not in a good way). Now Cadillac does comfort - they have a secret sauce that I can't describe. But it's different and better than other cars that do the comfort thing.

Hi, guys! Geoff is making me participate this year as a new year's resolution.

I remember about six years ago looking at an Audi A6, and feeling the same way. Until they showed me an S6, which at the time had the Lambo V-10 engine and a much stiffer suspension than the pillowy A6. Bought it, drove it for five years and really enjoyed it. But service costs were crazy--anything to do with the engine required gobs of labor because of the way the v-10 was stuffed into the engine compartment. Literally no room to do anything. But boy it was fun. My wife was scared of it.
