    Nice dinner at home tonight with clams and mussels steamed in chicken stock, dry vermouth, absinthe and herbs, homemade sourdough flatbread, bit of salad with homegrown tomatoes, guacamole and fresh local Viognier.

    I am sure you have heard of steaming mussels with Pernod, or sautéing escargot with it. Absinthe is the original Pernod of course. It's a delicious combination, and most of the alcohol steams off in the cooking (a little splash is enough for good flavor, in any case.)
