    Honestly no. Both my 93 and 99 Civics call for 3500 in the owners manual. The oil is usually fairly dirty when I change it. My 93 Civic generally get changed before 3500 miles anymore because it is basically driven to autocross and then back so I change ever 6 months.

    Anyway it is like $30 for me to change it so it doesn't bother me much.

    5000 miles is about normal, though. That's the interval I've done on just about every car I've owned.

    I've heard this, but in city living, there's little space to keep a set of wheels just laying around. AWD in all seasons makes quick work of snow, I don't know why I'd bother with the hassle. And then you run into the issues of unpredictable snows--we've had some snowstorms hit as late as April.

    Royal Purple 10W30 in the 93. Mobil1 non synthetic 5w30 in the 99.

    I didn't consider the (considerable) space necessary to store the spare set. That's a bummer. AWD with all seasons year round is less than ideal. No suburban dwelling friends to store them?

    I'd still have my Z4!

    But no, I don't. Suburban friends aren't real friends, they're the ghosts of friends who have children now.

    I am pretty happy with it but it isn't cheap which is why it is only in the autocross car.

    How is Royal Purple?
    I used it for a while and found it to be ok, but for the price when you review the results from some of the SAE test studies,like the four-ball test, it only finished mid-pack for wear and heat transfer and viscosity.

    Lots of other brands out there that finish higher and cost less.

    I wanted the best protection possible as I can put over 500 miles on my car a week, so I switched to Amsoil for most everything I own.

    Not cheap but super good stuff.
