Only other consideration is a preowned 135i - you can even get a drop top one for like 12k. Dunno what that would cost per month - probably more than a new m235i...

I was looking at them before getting the Z4. My friend with a 335i turned me off them. He loves his, but the turbo engine can be a maintenance nightmare. That was BMW's first mass market gas turbo engine for a long time, and they had a lot of problems.

The Si and Type R aren't even close in terms of performance.

I am a Honda guy but the Civic died to me after they stopped using double wishbones. MacPherson struts are such a lazy choice for a car.

After the EP3, the UK Type R and the US Civic Si were basically the same.

I agree there's not a lot of difference, just the wheel arches and bottom skirts are obvious.
