The obvious answer (not mine but wish it was).

It isn't fast but it is pimp. Also 100% usable in the UK.

I almost bought a 1966 Cadillac De Ville sedan in a metallic mint green with teal interior and leopard print accents a couple years ago. $3500 but I would have had to fly to Colorado and drive it back to Alabama... 1500 miles with a 429cu inch V8...

You've clearly never tried to parallel park in a British town.

Haha no I have driven one of those big Caddys and they barely fit in our parking spots. I am trying imagine piloting one of those around Oxford (I spent three months there many years ago). It is really more like land yachting then driving. You are a mile from anything you could hit and you could land a F18 Hornet on the hood of one.

Plus 8mpg is about the highest you can hope for.

But they are basically couches on wheels. You could run over Everest and you would never notice it because the suspension is so soft. If I owned one, I think I'd just play War's Lowrider on loop when I was driving it.

That is US gallons. So it would be 10mpg for you. Don't know if you accounted for that.

It would 16P a mile here.

Sad thing is that isn't the lowest mpg car I have look at buying. I almost bought a '68 Ford Torino with a 427 side oiler (5-6mpg) and a '76 Ford F-350 dually with a 460 cu inch (6-7mpg). I bought a much more practical '95 F150 with 5.8 liter V8 that got about 12 mpg over the F-350.

(Pictures are not the exact vehicle I almost bought)

Nice cars but I think you demonstrated my point perfectly.
The new Bentley SUV does circa 22mpg and that's bad!

Yeah I know they make as much sense in Britain as a chocolate teacup.

I thought you had to be over 45 to get a convertible, midlife crisis and such

My brother has a Saab 9-3 Aero convertible ( bought at that age ) It's not my brand, but it's fast and drives terrific!

I had one of those with the twin turbo diesel engine Hirsch chipped to 200bhp. Best car I've ever had!
