Each day I've just picked my favourite five photos from my hard drive. And I tried to take a semi-meaningful route through my collection

What I might do is do it over the course of a few days. Do a theme each day - eg digital, Russians, etc

You've got to get this one onto the system. So many uses!

And your absolute favourites get a day to themselves?

One thing is for sure: your collection in one post would be really hard to take on board.

BTW, tomorrow is my final day! Just the nine watches, just as I like it

Sometime nearer the beginning of the year I spent quite on while on ebay trying to find another, and larger, dateless Seiko manual. When this came up looking rather tired I was managed to control my enthusiasm long enough not to start a bidding war, just nipping in at the end to get it for under £25. Its a 7000-8000 from 1971, 37mm case.

The case and bracelet both showed signs of having had an over-adventurous experience with the pavement. I took off the bracelet, had the chrome case given a little bit of a polish, just to take the edge off the scrapes. It got a new crystal and rehaut while being serviced - most the patina the watch had was on the rehaut. There is a tiny bit of damage to the edge of the dial, but the charcoal colour conceals that nicely

Being on a bracelet I wasn't surprised that the lug to lug is 19mm, which limited my choices for a strap. Despite having a lots of dressy watches, none of them felt like a Dress Watch, so I've put this on a nice black Hirsch croc-u-like as my closest approximation. I usually wear it at the weekends, just for a couple of days. Most of my other watches I wear for 4+ days at a go. This I only wear for just a couple of days at a time, so that I don't start to get preoccupied by the battered case.

The applied indices on charcoal make for a great combination: always legible, always looking good

I got this as a christmas present when I was a student, and it was my daily wearer throughout university. Considering that its from 1922 and that's a silver case, this was a deliciously inappropriate choice for someone who was misspending their youth as vigorously as possible. I know I got through at least two crystals and it needed mending after I wore it clubbing sometime in the mid 90s. I think its time-keeping didn't recover and I must have tired of the inaccuracy and stopped wearing it. When I finally came across it recently I was surprised to find it still runs. I think its about +90s/d.

Something else I've noticed: when I wore it regularly, it never occurred to me that this was a Small Watch. Now I find it almost unbearably so - hence the perlon nato to give it some wrist presence.
