Perseid meteors peak tonight.

Two thing conspire to make the Perseid peak tonight potentially great:
-the Earth is entering a particularly "thick" part of the debris stream from comet Swift-Tuttle (which makes the Perseids),
-the entire evening is moonless.

You who are going out to watch the Perseids should take pics and post them here. Just pop your camera on a tripod:
-set the lens to 18mm - 28mm and as low an f/stop as it will go.
-set the shutter to B or T and use a remote/cable release if possible (or use the timer)
-ISO 400 or more (but not the fastest; that's usually pretty noisy)
-point the camera high in the northeast sky to capture meteors coming from the radiant
-point the camera anywhere else in the sky to capture longer meteor trails.
Exposures of 5-10 minutes give nice star trails, and (hopefully!) some bright meteor streaks. (if you're in a light-polluted area, use ISO 200)
