I love quiche, particularly Quiche Lorraine. And I make a mean one, pie crust, eggs, cream, Swiss cheese, onion and bacon (!), what's not to love? Though I do love mine, I always try it if it's on the menu. It can be quite different, and still quite good. Would love to try some in the Lorraine region of France some day.

I did try some in the French section of Epcot Center a few years back (not that it's remotely the same, just "themed"). It was very good. Some of the best I ever had was in an East Lansing restaurant that unfortunately is no longer around (also had a great Eggs Benedict and Eggs Lorraine). Was called the Pan Tree and was open 24/7. Gawd I miss that place!

I put them overnight in the slow cooker with the usual vegetables, with thyme and smoked paprika. Just investigated.

Don't be alarmed by the black patches - that's just the skin caramelising. The beans have got a much more interesting texture and have taken on much more flavour than before. A success

Something which perplexes me is how it came to be considered manly not to know how to feed yourself, whole generations of men who couldn't cook, like pathetic big babies crying to mummy for their dindins

Especially since it at the same time was almost unheard of with a female chef at restaurants...

Do it for yourself or your loved ones for free - unmanly
Do it for complete strangers for money - manly

(and yes I realise these two statements can be interpreted with other meaning than cooking)
