This quiche contained spinach and feta and red pepper but no bacon.

Mhm. Also, there are forms of beer that don't contain alcohol, but is it really beer? And also threads that are called 'what is my Patek worth?' that show pictures of watches that say Patek on the dial, but are they really Pateks?
It is now my duty to completely drain you.

I call those ovo-vegan omelets on pie crust.

I think you need to broaden your quiche horizon.

Generally speaking I find that the presence or otherwise of mangey little lumps of pig in my dinner less indicative of the solidity of my gender than the contents of my pants, but ymmv I guess.

The Quiche Lorraine I had in Lorraine was so delicious that it kinda ruined me for Quiche Lorraine anywhere else. This feta etc one was a bit overfancy, I would have prefered something more plain, but the shop had sold out of the broccoli one.

You should try the lentil and bacon soup the chef makes at work, greasy bits of fat floating in a brown sludge.

*books train ticket to south coast*

Rule of thumb: if your soup is so shitty it needs a handful of overseasoned meat throwing in it to give it flavour, it's still going to be shitty soup after you've thrown a handful overseasoned meat in it.

I remember once having some lentil and bacon soup and marveling at the woeful quality of the bacon. I couldn't quite work out how bacon so bad could exist.

I think it got the bad rap purely from the STUPID trendy 1980's Yuppie book "Real Men Don't Eat Quiche". And for 30 years since, I've been answering that cliche' with the retort "Real men don't give a f**k about what stupid trendy books say they do or don't eat".

I love quiche, particularly Quiche Lorraine. And I make a mean one, pie crust, eggs, cream, Swiss cheese, onion and bacon (!), what's not to love? Though I do love mine, I always try it if it's on the menu. It can be quite different, and still quite good. Would love to try some in the Lorraine region of France some day.

I did try some in the French section of Epcot Center a few years back (not that it's remotely the same, just "themed"). It was very good. Some of the best I ever had was in an East Lansing restaurant that unfortunately is no longer around (also had a great Eggs Benedict and Eggs Lorraine). Was called the Pan Tree and was open 24/7. Gawd I miss that place!

Even a broken watch shows correct time once or twice a day. I ought to know, I have a few!
