I have to admit that I couldn't bring myself to finish reading about the conditions that Polish pigs are kept in, but I think I've managed to avoid all pig meat that isn't labelled Outdoor Reared. I tell myself that cows have much better lives, but no doubt I'm just deluding myself terribly.

Still on holiday in the south of France. Some dishes:
The middle one is a local dish containing duck, pork sausage and white beans. Strange but tasty
Old picture, but I'm eating these right now while trying to work (i.e. procrastinate.) I am slightly addicted to them.

Too many watches, not enough wrists.
Talk of humane treatment for farm animals, I read a bit on Facebook today, purportedly a new policy from Walmart. Claim they will now only sell products humanely raised and slaughtered, will demand same of their suppliers. Mentioned adequate food and water, shelter and resting areas, adequate room for socialization, prevention/proper early treatment of disease, freedom from fear and painless slaughter. I'm thinking I wish they treated their employees as well.![]()

Even a broken watch shows correct time once or twice a day. I ought to know, I have a few!
Ate at my son's school tonight, the kids in his year group prepared a meal for all the parents. It was actually really lovely:
Crudités with hummus and takziki (sp?) to start
Chicken and pasta salad with soda bread and these amazing spinach and feta pastries for main
Chocolate brownies and strawberries for dessert
It being a primary school the wine list was shit, but otherwise it was a very nice meal.
