But if he signs for them then it shows a serious lack of ambition and shows perhaps why he hasn't achieved what he should've so far in his career.
I wonder if he'd go for it. I think he just wants to play, and Orlando would guarantee him that. But, it would also take him off of the schedule of all the Euro leagues, and take him out of all major club competitions. It's the end of his career at anything near the top level.
What I don't understand is the lack of interest in him. He's a good goalscorer with what seems like a good attitude, so I don't understand why lots of clubs aren't in for him. I can't fathom that at least a Spanish or Italian club wouldn't want him and he wouldn't be interested in it.

This is sad. A player at his age and of his talent shouldn't be going to the MLS. And I'm not an MLS hater by any means, but you can't deny that it's a much lower level than the top 5 leagues. Liverpool needs to go get him.
Definitely sux for Chicharito but IMO it's a big win for MLS. American players, teams, and American soccer in general will never improve to international standards until experienced, talented foreigners in large numbers start playing in MLS and raising the general level of play. America doesn't have anywhere near the history and tradition in the sport that practically the rest of the world does and consequently our native talent pool is shallow and small.

They'll never get to that level until they align their season and get rid of playoffs. They need to shuffle the league around a bit.

Tru dat. The ways in which MLS is f**ked up are manifold. It's gratifying to see they're supporting teams in building soccer-specific stadia, but that's spitting in the ocean compared to the changes they should be making.

Schneiderlin to United looks official. He's a good pickup. Not so sure about Schweinsteiger--a classy player no doubt, but getting close to just past the top of his hill, isn't he?

Maybe but Pirlo and Lampard both were more then capable of preforming into their mid-30s. So if they get another 3-4 years from him that wouldn't be a terrible pickup. I think Man U payed a lot for him though.

True. It depends on fit, fitness, and role. Schweinsteiger has had injury problems, hasn't he?

I think he'll be fine. He won't be expected to play from box to box, and his football brain will keep him at a competitive level for a couple of years. United have been comparatively weak in midfield since the days of Keane and Scholes. United can easily afford a £15m fee for a plug-in player that instantly improves the team. They won't be expecting to see any of that money back in the future. Schweinsteiger seems to really fancy the challenge, too. Everyone's a winner.

All fair points.
