Why only plain perlon?

Perlon straps seem to be having a resurgence at the moment, which I applaud as I find them to be lovely things. Smarter than a Nato and great in the heat, I also love the adjustable ones as I can make a perfect length strap for my skinny wrist.
However.... It would appear that back in the good old days they made patterned perlon (I know this because you can pay lots of money for NOS ones on eBay), so why are none of the modern manufacturers doing them? Is it cost thing or something they just haven't gotten round to yet?

Scott Alison is a great guy & he's 1 of us. I have 2 of his Perlons as a matter of fact the only Perlons I own.

I've not tried his, mine are all from either Watch Obsession or Cheapest Nato Straps

Yeah, most of my vintage nylons are from Scott - they're great and he's a great seller.
My colour schemes tend to run to stripes rather than full-on plaid

This is a lovely flexible ribbon-like strap:




Love that some are reversible - these last 2 are the same strap :-)



In answer to OP - manufacturers probably feel that stripes are already covered by NATOs.
The plaids are hard to pull off, except set against very bold watch designs, I think

I get mine from Yelly's and they do have the occasional mixed colored perlon along with the solid colors.
