    Space Perception ...

I made my living judging pretty small spaces - in a dark mouth, frequently through a mirror, using water spray, using a burr rotating at 400,000 RPM.
And I was pretty good at it, too.

So, why couldn't I drive a 16 foot UHaul truck through a toll booth at 2 MPH, on a bright, sunny, day?

If you had done it in reverse using the mirrors it would've been fine.

City of Huston has REALLY narrow Toll Lanes and when I realized that the mirrors were going to hit - I hollered for my son to pull his in while I grabbed for the drivers side mirror. Then the truck just stopped. All at once. I backed up a few inches and made it through on the 2nd attempt. with literally 3 inches per side.

The scorn on the Toll operators face will haunt me forever.

Same issue driving in San Francisco. Super narrow streets and tight toll booths.

Anything that protrudes is fair game for the concrete barriers, light posts, other cars, other bikes, pretty much everything, so I feel your pain.
