Some come to Grand Seiko because they want an alternative to prestige European brands, but I just wanted a better SARB. I'd had a couple of SARBs, and they were good but left me wanting. I like the 'pure Seiko' style, and to get that style in its most distilled form, you need a Grand Seiko.

I also wanted ease of ownership, a versatile watch for life, so I went for the SBGX061. It's almost vanishingly discreet, but that's what I was after. Some don't like spending a lot of money on a watch that doesn't shout 'expensive' across the room, but us older types in cardigans aren't too concerned with cutting a dash.

Nice summary of why Grand Seiko is SO SPECIAL. While some watches scream across the room their owner spent a lot of money, Grand Seiko quietly reassures it's owner he or she has something quite special strapped to their wrist. One can only truly appreciate how special when viewed up close. And that's just fine with me. When I wear mine, like I did today, it brings tremendous pleasure in all the little details so perfectly executed. Yes it does!

Here's today's picture I posted in the WRUW thread:

Yep, you did at that. Shoulda listened more closely but the PML's siren song was just so strong!

If you ever get nostalgic for the '83 just let me know, I'd bite the bullet and swap mine for the PML for a time. I'm just that charitable.
Thank you kind sir...perhaps we'll swap for a day or two. You send yours first!

Be careful what you say, I'm liable to do it...

Although, I'd feel much more comfortable letting you wear the '83 than me wearing the PML. It's that weird?

It is a bit weird because having owned the 083, that polishing is so fantastic that I would walk around with my wrist in a blanket (not really but you get the drift). With Rod and I both being fanatics about keeping our watches scratch free, it can be a PITA. BTW, I'm not nearly as careful with the PML because it has very little polished surface area.

    Now THAT'S weird!

    Happy Thanksgiving my IWL friends!!!

That makes perfect sense but I know me and how I usually ended up wearing my watches, including the '83. I tend to be less careful and not baby a watch.

Of course wearing someone else's watch I'd be super careful with it, but I'm nervous that the longer I wore it I'd fall into normal habits. Whereas I'd have no problem letting someone who obviously takes excellent care of their borrow one of mine.

Right, wrong or indifferent that's my thought process.
