The first one is kinda 'chunky' the dial.and bezel both need to lose a few in my opinion.
Buy the second one - gorgeous. Don't let it pass you by. You deserve it
(notice the "Bad Enabler - Good Enabler " approach......)

I like the texture on the dial, but while I cannot put my finger on it the design seems like it needs more refinement.

The Seiko GRAND SEIKO GS Seiko Really, it's a Seiko SEIKO writing on the dial really annoys on every GS.

I think it is the lack of refinement, compared to other GS anyways, that I find strangely attractive in the first piece.

Don't be NUTTY! Buy the SBGR017 this instant!!! Is that brand new? As in - NOS? Those older models are quite sought after but they normally have 10 years wear and tear on them, and not only that, but the vast majority are quartz, that one's an auto! Buy the goddam watch! Look at that dodecagonal bezel, the work in that bracelet.....There's TRUE workmanship in the original modern Grand Seikos....

In my opinion everything on the first watch is just a skosh too big. It all looks the teeniest bit crowded. The second one is gorgeous, but i do not like the bracelet either.

Just to clarify, the second model posted is not a good buy really - It's just the older version of the current and visually identical SBGW035 but without the revised movement with MEMS and 3 days PR and an undecorated baseplate.
How much do they want for the SBGR017?

OK... first one too blocky, lacks the 'reduced to elegant essentials' of a classic GS. Second one much nicer but I'd have to see it in the metal (and yes, bracelet not one of Seiko's finest...).
