Perhaps time to start a Liverpool-thread?
Re. Sterling: Someone has seriously inflated his ego. He's definitely a great talent but nowhere near a finished product. Ability is there but not the consistency to be considered elite. Just look at Hazard, who performs at an incredible high level game after game. I say let him go if that's what he wants.
I think we as Liverpool fans have to realise we're not considered a big club anymore. The young players today don't know about the glory days. We can't compete on name recognition alone. Couple that with ownership with a tight wallet and we won't get the high profile transfers. We've seen it time and time again last couple of years. That's why we're connected to the Ings and Milners.
I'm torn on Rodgers, was last season all Suarez and is this season any indication of what to expect going forward. I don't want to become a club switching managers every other year. I'm prepared to give him one more year. But if we don't compete in the PL next year (with no champions league) I'm all for giving him the boot.

He's like a parent with a rebellious teenager who thinks the solution is to try harder to be the 'cool parent' and give the kid even more of what they want.

there can be lots of reasons for playing him- maybe so he will disapoint and be ceremoniously dropped to the delight of the crowd -if he under performs when he is in the 'shop window ' his value drops - if he performs well it suits Rodgers -if he doesn't perform he compromises himself
there is only one winner when you are contracted to a manager and club you are disrespecting -especially to a proud Liverpool

If he drops him, Ward will have a field day. Ward's whole strategy has become about burning Sterling's bridges so he has to go and trigger the payday.
Liverpool have to try and keep the moral high ground even if there's so far no evidence at all that Sterling is able to appreciate it.

I don't think how he performs in one meaningless game will have any bearing on his market value. Hat trick or Balotelliesque performance likely won't change how teams view him as a long-term investment. Though I do think with his overall crap form ever since the infamous interview has done himself no favors. Schadenfreude...

When you look back, everything Sterling has done has been detrimental to his relationship with the club. Mistakes from his point of view but consistent with what appears to be Ward's strategy of forcing a move by alienating the existing club and fanbase.
Ward's other players include Saido "Unfortunate-Interview" Berahino and Peter "Get-in-your-Car" Odemwingie. It's just history repeating.

the unthinkable but understandable possibility of Hull winning and Newcastle losing and therefore being relegated ! ignominious end for such a great and famous club - cannot imagine the tenseness at those two games
