OK
Classic - the Speedy certainly is :-)
A much homaged, easily recognisable design with a unique history
Iconic? Imo, that word should just be used for these
Vintage - not an *official* descriptor of age with a precise time limit (unlike antique) but generally agreed to be over 15 years old. So 90s watches are OK
My 90s vintage Poljot Aviator I
Vintage watch is best watch :-)
It's the final countdown! PM me before they're all gone!

Vintage is for when the page of history has turned, Classic for when the page of history could have turned...but there the watch is, still dominating its field, still looking fresh.
How does that sound?
And you could double-check an estimation by looking at watches that copy its design: if they look retro, vintage; if they merely look arriviste, classic.

I go by is the watch older then me. If it is older then me it is vintage. So older then '88.
Actually I go by the 25 year rule, if it is older then 25 years old I consider it vintage.

I thought that classic happened when the price started to rise irrationally?

I think that Kath got the definition of classic right here. Vintage is, to me, anything over 25 years old.
