"Philip Chapman Lesh (March 15, 1940 – October 25, 2024) was an American musician and a founding member of the Grateful Dead, with whom he played bass guitar throughout their 30-year career."
Hah... 30 year career? (wikipedia) I was a few years old when I heard the Warlocks practicing in a garage behind our house in Menlo Park CA, around 1966. My dad used to fix guitar amps for Guitars Unlimited in the early 70s when he was unemployed, and he used to laugh at the stains on some old Fenders. That culture has been a part of my life ever since, whether or not I knew it. May Phil find his beautiful box of rain.
