Benteke always looks great against Liverpool. He looked terrible when he played for Liverpool, though.

Really Liverpool isn't going to get close to winning the Premier League until they buy some decent defenders, a decent DM and goalkeeper instead of just buying more attacking mids. Clyne is the only defender who could play on any of the other top teams.

He's only the second best center back we own. Matip is definitely better. Sakho has an attitude problem and seeing him celebrate an equalizing goal with Christian Benteke shows where his loyalties lie. People lose their minds over halftime shirt swapping and this is way worse.
We definitely need at least two CBs over the summer, and a DM. And a left back. Goalkeeper, I'm not so sure. Karius's freak injury in preseason clearly got into his head--before that, it was obvious that he was talented. And Mignolet is commanding the box very well these days, and usually when called upon to make a save, he makes it. I can't recall any recent goals that were his fault.

The trick is finding someone to fill those positions since it seems like most teams are looking for fullbacks, centerbacks and DMs. I still think Liverpool could do better then Mignolet in goal though.
The other thing it seems like Liverpool needs is a plan b striker. I think they would be smart to go for Defoe. He is cool headed vetern and a great finisher. I think he could be a good plan b striker that isn't a big tall target man that has just failed every time Liverpool has tried that.

I think there is room for an upgrade to Mignolet, I agree. But on the list of needs, it's pretty low down.
Defoe is what you say he is. But the way defenses stack up against Liverpool, forcing us to the wings, a taller striker would be more useful. We can put crosses in, but we don't really have anyone who can take charge in the box and turn those into goals. Someone like Chicharito or Olivier Giroud would be great. Chicharito is quick and can make runs in behind, but unlike Giroud, he's got poor offside awareness and poor defensive contribution. I think Giroud is the unsung hero we need. Yeah, he's a big man, but he's got the right talents and skills to much more than just be another Andy Carroll or Benteke. Tackles, layoffs, defensive contribution, through balls, key passes; these are what we need in a striker. It's why most strikers won't fit in Liverpool, because they need to have the skill set of attacking midfielders as well. That's why Firmino has thrived as the false 9/center forward. Giroud gets into the fray, holds up the ball, and plays the one touch pass well. He could really thrive at Liverpool. Defoe is almost 35, too. Can't say he's not still putting them in, though. 14 goals this season.

I doubt Giroud would go to Liverpool to be a plan b. Defoe you could probably get and he has 14 goals on a crap team. I mean he isn't a long term solution but in the short term he could provide a lot of help.

I don't know. Giroud is third choice at Arsenal right now, it seems, and if Liverpool secure a top four finish (which is a big if now) and Arsenal is stuck in Europa, he might want out. He could be second choice at Liverpool. Especially if Wenger leaves, and he and I are basically the only people who think that Giroud is good, he'll be up for grabs. And I imagine pretty cheap.
Defoe would likely be easy to get, but I think we could do better. You don't want someone to just be able to play the last 10-20 minutes of a match here and there, he will need to be able to step in and contribute if there are injuries to the top squad. And Defoe doesn't really press, his offside awareness isn't great, and he's not known for his defensive contribution.
