    The modern Air defence force of West Germany was founded in 1956 during the cold war and was a key part of NATOs strategic air defence network, at the same time as Russia was backing the Air force of East Germany, many German pilots how had formerly fought against the Allies were now being trained to use American equipment and Aircraft.

    In 1920, French WWI hero Paul Teste, was the first pilot to demonstrate actually landing an aircraft on the deck of a ship, The Béarn, and in effect invented the concept of the modern Aircraft carrier.
    In the 1960s French Pilots were issued with watches manufactured to the "Type 20” pattern, including approximately 500 Breguet watches for those operating from Aircraft carriers in the Navy. ...

  3. Issue 25 - 1960s Portuguese Colonial Army

    At the start of The Portuguese Colonial War in 1961 the Portuguese Army was badly equipped and used poorly suited and outdated WWII equipment to fight a guerrilla war.
    As part of the upgraded equipment, watches were supplied by the Swiss company Heuer, high precision, designed for use in Motorsport and Aviation environments they used a quality Valjoux chronograph movement.

  4. Issue 14 - 1960s Israeli Naval Commando

    The watch depicted in issue 14 is a representation of an Eterna KonTiki Super watch, it was a preferred watch of The Israeli Navy Special Forces Unit, Shayatet 13.
    Members of this elite unit go through a two year programme that produces a highly trained soldier capable of operations on land, air and sea, both surface and underwater.

  5. Issue 13 - 1960s German Naval Commando

    This watch is based on the classic Blancpain Fifty Fathoms. One of the worlds best regarded deep sea watches.
    Various models of the fifty fathoms were issued to the West German Bundeswehr Kampfschwimmers (German Navy Combat divers) from the late sixties right through to the mid eighties.
    The MWC version looks like a mix of several models from the period.
