  1. Backpacking trip 10/2024

The training and preparation continues. Since it's just overnight, to save a bit of weight I've taken the spare pair of pants out. So clothing allotment beyond worn will be: Socks X2 Pair, 1x Skivvy, 1x Tank Top, 1x Long Sleeve Shirt, 1x Hoodie. If the night gets cold I've got an old Wool Surplus Blanket that I've had my whole life and is probably older than my Father.

Found some 550 Cord I'd been looking for, perhaps 60 or so feet. Enough for the trip. Added that.

  2. Mindless Entertainment (replacing an appliance)

After 11 years of faithful service, our LG front loader washer burned out its motor. Like anyone else, spending the money on a replacement as well as having to picksomething you can work with can he a real PITA. We settled on twomust haves: top loading and high efficiency. The first because Ihave to admit that I am getting old. Bending over is less fun. Thesecond because it’s just to use less water, even though we getcharged more for using less. Go figure.

  4. Parker Sonnet

In the past few days, I've had an impulse to ink up my collection of Parker Sonnets -- for the first time in many, many months. I've always liked the size and shape of these pens. Like the Parker 75, which the Sonnet was created to replace, these pens are a very user friendly size and shape. They are not overwhelmingly big or heavy. They are not, by and large, super ostentatious. In short, Sonnets are designed to be comfortable for long use, day in and day out.

by , Feb 4, 2018 at 01:01 AM (Eaglemoss Military Watches Collection.)

In the years after the conclusion of World War II the Royal Navy went through a series of changes and the number of active vessels was reduced.
in spite of the fresh memory of global conflict, regular conflicts between opposing ideologies were always proving world peace was difficult, if not impossible to achieve. The commitment of the United Kingdom to both NATO and United Nations roles meant ...
